But how will commerce work this Sunday, June 9?
This implies that all commercial complexes managed under the same company name must stay closed between the 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 and 6:00 a.m. on Monday, June 10 in all communes where there are primaries, except in cases of work shift rotation.
The law also disables the possibility for workers from shopping centers that must close on primary day to be transferred to centers of the same chains that will be able to operate as they are located in communes without elections.
Those who work in other types of commerce, such as supermarkets and stores outside commercial complexes with sole administration, are exempt from this rule. Employees of service centers, emergency pharmacies or those with shifts set by the health authority can also work.
Right to vote in workers’ primaries
All those workers who have their electoral domicile in communes where there are primary elections will be able to exercise their right to vote even if they work in a commune that can open its doors to commerce.
This is why workers will be able to be absent for at least two hours so that they can pay, without deduction from their salaries. The Electoral Service (Servel) explained that, if necessary, this permit can be extended beyond this time.
