Panama deports Carlos Ahumada to Paraguay

The National Immigration Service (SNM) of Panama reported yesterday that it deported to Paraguay an Argentine-Mexican citizen who was transiting to Guatemala from Asunción, whose description matches that of businessman Carlos Ahumada Kurtz.

Last Friday, Mexican authorities confirmed to The Day that Ahumada had been detained by immigration agents in Panama, as he is wanted by the Mexican justice system for tax fraud.

Although sources close to the case indicated that there was contact between the authorities of Mexico and Panama to discuss the terms of an extradition, the SNM indicated that it contacted Interpol Mexico to find out if there was interest in his extradition, but did not receive a response.

At the end of 24 hours and not receiving a response from the competent authority regarding the citizen’s request, the corresponding return is made to Asunción, Paraguay.the Panamanian immigration authorities stated on platform

According to the SNM of Panama, it was confirmed that within the database of the General Secretariat of the International Criminal Police Organization Interpol in Lyon, France, maintains a Red notification and is required by the Mexican authorities for the crime of generic fraud and continuous fraud.

The case that the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) has open against Ahumada in folder 38/2007 is related to the alleged comparable tax fraud committed between 2002 and 2003 by the businessman that amounts to one million 647 thousand 236 pesos. to the detriment of the then Gustavo A. Madero and Tláhuac delegations.

As of the closing of this edition, the FGR has not commented on the alleged lack of request for Ahumada’s extradition to Mexico.
