Sumar has denounced, as he was able to verify at the opening of the municipality’s Polling Stations, that the city council has given instructions to the Presidencies “so that ballots are not enabled inside the voting booths, which is contrary to what is established in the electoral law”.
The party recalls that Article 86 of the Organic Law 5/1985, of June 19, of the General Electoral Regime “is very clear in point 86.1, which states that ‘the vote is secret’.”
And in point 86.2 that “voters will approach the Table one by one, after having passed, if they wish, through the booth that will be located in the same room, in a place intermediate between the entrance and the Table “Electoral. Inside the booth, the voter will be able to choose the electoral ballots and place them in the corresponding envelopes.”
However, the Murcia City Council, through the Statistics Service “seems to have given instructions to the Presidencies and Members of the tables to enable the ballots in tables attached to the voting booths, clearly violating the provisions of the Electoral Law. “It cannot be understood that the representation of the Zone Electoral Board was not at these meetings or that when they were there they did not say anything,” they add.
From Sumar in the municipality of Murcia, a request has been made to the Zonal Electoral Board to issue immediate correction instructions to guarantee the right to free and secret suffrage. “Otherwise, a claim will be raised in all the Polling Stations in which this right is not guaranteed,” they emphasize.
