Several deputies from Unión por la Patria (UP) were repressed with pepper spray by federal forces in the vicinity of Congress, within the framework of protests against the treatment of the Bases Law and the fiscal package.

The police operation is ordered by the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich. The advance of the forces occurred around 1:30 p.m., after a traffic blockade carried out by the protesters on Callao Avenue.

In the midst of the conflict, there were moments of tension and several deputies suffered the consequences of the repression with pepper spray, among them Carlos Castagneto, Eduardo Valdés, Leopoldo Moreau, Luis Basterra and Juan Manuel Pedrini.

According to reports, some of the legislators had to be transferred to the Santa Lucía hospital. The head of the Unión por la Patria bloc in the Lower House, Germán Martínez, blamed President Javier Milei and Bullrich for the situation. (DIB) MT
