Washington, June 13 (EFE).- Former US President Donald Trump (2017-2021) appeared surprised this Thursday before legislators from his party in the Capitol that the singer Taylor Swift does not support him for the November elections next, despite the fact that during his term he signed a law that protected singer-songwriters and producers in the industry, according to congressmen present at the meeting.

According to information from national media such as The Hill and CNN, Trump questioned the probability that the pop star would direct her support to Joe Biden, because although in this electoral period the composer of ‘Blank Space’ has not positioned herself in favor of any of the candidates, during the previous cycle supported the current US president.

“Why would she support that fool? He doesn’t even know how to get off the stage,” the former president said, according to reports.

Swift has become one of the most popular celebrities in recent times and support for one of the candidates could be crucial during this election cycle.

Trump considered that Swift should support him because during his term he approved the so-called Music Modernization Act, celebrated by the industry and which protected creators and producers.

This is not the first time Trump has spoken about the singer. In the book ‘Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass,’ the former president praised Swift effusively when writer Ramin Setoodeh asked him what he thought of her:

“I think she’s pretty, very pretty! I think she’s very pretty. I think she’s liberal. She probably doesn’t like Trump. I’ve heard she’s very talented,” he noted.

This Thursday, Trump returned to the Capitol for the first time since the 2021 attack, in which his supporters attacked the legislative chamber with the intention of overturning the results of the 2020 election.

In the meeting with lawmakers, Trump reportedly made comments about abortion and other issues that will affect the election campaign in the coming months.

His visit comes two weeks after he was found guilty of 34 criminal offenses following the trial he faced in New York for falsifying business records in the case involving adult film actress Stormy Daniels. EFE
