RECOMMENDATIONS IN CASE OF EARTHQUAKES

Now Indeci offers you the following recommendations to know how to act in the event of an earthquake.

  • Remain calm at all times; evaluate the situation and help others. Execute what you practiced.
  • Stay away from windows, shelves or any utensils, artifacts or objects that could roll or fall into the Evacuation Route.
  • If you cannot leave, locate yourself in the previously identified Internal Security Zone, such as next to the columns or structural walls or near the elevator shaft.
  • Evacuate with your Emergency Backpack.

WHAT SHOULD CONTAIN AN EMERGENCY BACKPACK IN CASE OF AN EARTHQUAKE?

An emergency backpack should contain the following:

  • Water
  • Non-perishable foods (canned or packaged).
  • first aid kit. Include medicines from a family member.
  • Hygiene items.
  • Clothes and shelter.
  • A flashlight (in case the natural event occurs at night or early morning).
  • A portable radio and batteries to keep us informed.
  • Cash, preferably coins.
  • Specific items for babies, older adults or women’s use.

It is recommended that a backpack weigh no more than 8 kilos and contain items for two people, so if there are many members in the family, more backpacks will be needed.

If in a family there is only one adult and several minors, it is advisable to prepare small backpacks that the children can help carry.

It is important to remember that the emergency backpack is carried during the evacuation, that is, after the emergency has occurred.
