A 6.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded during the morning of Sunday, June 16, in the Arequipa region, with the epicenter in the province of Chala, according to information released by the official account of X (formerly Twitter) of the National Seismological Center (Censis) of the Geophysical Institute of Peru (IGP).

According to reports obtained through the National Seismic Network, the movement began at 9:47 in the morning (local time) and it originated 41 kilometers southwest of Chala, Caraveli province, in the Arequipa region.

The earthquake had a depth of 25 kilometers, and was located in the sea. According to the Asismet platform, specialized in meteorology, this movement does not generate a tsunami on the Peruvian coast.
