Every June 20th is what many consider to be the happiest day of the year., better known as “Yellow Day”. According to experts, it is the day when we are most likely to be happy and in a good mood.

But, have you asked yourself: How do you define which day is the best of the year?

The answer is not arbitrary, because it is not an “invented day”, but is based on the concept of “Blue Monday” by the British psychologist. Cliff Arnold.

Arnall proposed based on research that the saddest day was linked to aspects such as weather conditions, economic situation and the time dedicated to leisure and rest.

Although it was initially born as an advertising initiative, Arnall proposed “Yellow Day” as a contrast to “Blue Monday”, a day that is full of positivism, joy and optimism.

Unlike “Blue Monday”, on this day variables such as perfect weather, with more hours of sunlight and a more enthusiastic perception of factors such as freedom, leisure time and quality of life are considered.

The yellow that is identified with this day, for being a color that is identified with good vibes and positive emotions. In fact, in many European countries such as the United Kingdom this day is seen as the perfect opportunity to go on vacation due to its pleasant temperatures, more hours of sunshine and festivities.

In Ecuadorthe day coincides with the celebration of Inti Raymithe ancestral indigenous festival of the sun and the crops, in which the sun (Inti) and mother earth (Pacha Mama) are thanked for the crops.

Thus, if you saw extra sunflowers on the streets, it is because many were distributed as happiness on this special day.
