The Euro 2024 enters its definition stage in the group phase with date 3 in the respective zones and little by little the round of 16 matches are put together, heading towards the definition for the title on July 14 in Berlin Germany.
The round of 16 phase in the Eurowith the 16 best teams in the competition, will run from Saturday, June 29 to Tuesday, July 2.
How are they classified to the round of 16 and what is the tie-breaking criterion?
A total of 24 teams are divided into six groups and The two best from each zone get into the round of 16accompanied by the four best third places that will be distributed in playoffs according to which zone those who advance are from.
Drafting
The main tiebreaker in the group stage of Euro 2024in case of equality of points between teams, it is through the result of direct confrontations, evaluating points obtained, goal difference and number of goals scored.
If the tie persists, the same criteria will be applied to all matches in the group. If it is still not resolved, the overall goal difference, the number of goals in all games and the disciplinary points will be analyzed. Ultimately, the overall qualifying position from the qualifying round will be used.
For the best third partiesthe tie-breaking criteria include goal difference, highest number of goals scored, number of wins, fair play (number of yellow and red cards) and position in the general classification of the qualifying phase.
