The Ministry of Public Works is preparing an investment of more than 190 million dollars to carry out three important programs aimed at improving 450 kilometers of local roads in several locations in the country.

The first program is the “Central Plan 2,” which includes the rehabilitation of almost 135 km of roads in Itá, Capiatá, Ñemby, Guarambaré, Areguá and San Lorenzo, with a budget of USD 35 million. This program is already in the bidding process

Some 200 km of local roads to be improved comprise the second program in the departments of Caaguazú, Itapúa, Alto Paraná, Caazapá and Paraguarí, financed with local resources of nearly USD 90 million. This program is expected to be tendered before August 15.

The third program includes more than 105 km of local roads and more than 350 linear meters of reinforced concrete bridges in the departments of Concepción, San Pedro, Caaguazú, Caazapá, Paraguarí, Alto Paraná and Canindeyú. The total estimated investment is USD 75 million, with financing from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

The Minister of the MOPC, Claudia Centurión, highlighted the importance of local roads for citizens and their crucial role in the development plan.

“Country roads constitute the fabric where road capillarity occurs, and most importantly, where society and community are woven. They have a direct impact on the quality of life of the citizens of our country, they have a human face,” she expressed.
