In a recent TikTok video, user @marialzno, who works at Zara, has revealed the reasons behind the apparent lack of stock in the store on-line before sales. With the aim of clarifying frequent doubts of clients, María explained the two theories that exist in this regard.
“I’m going to tell you the two options that they say there are: the first, I don’t believe it; the second, I have seen with my eyes,” María began. “The first is said to be marketing. ‘Zara’ sells out everything so that you end up buying in season and give up on sales. I don’t think it’s true, since during the two months of sales ‘Zara’ restocks every day,” she explained, denying the theory of an aggressive sales strategy.
María, however, trusts the second version. “I believe that ‘Zara’ launches the baskets and people buy en masse so as not to be left without the item they want. When the price of that same garment has already dropped, they try to get it on sale as well. If they get it, they return the one they paid for at the seasonal price and keep the discounted one. “This is something that happens because I have seen it with my eyes and because I have served people in the store who have done that,” she stated.
The young woman also explained how the return and repurchase of the products is handled. According to María, you cannot return a product at the original price and buy it again at a discounted price immediately because it would have to be relabeled. However, it is possible to return the item purchased at the original price and look for the same item at a discounted price in the store or on the website.
Finally, María encouraged customers not to give up if they see everything sold out before the sales. “Even if you see everything exhausted, don’t give up. The sales last two months. Things go down a lot in price. People buy, return; buy, return and that leads to size increases on the website or in the store itself. There is a lot of movement in sizes, returns.
