Representations of the Communist and Socialist parties and social and union organizations arrived at the monument to the president in front of the presidential palace of La Moneda, where he died fighting the coup coup of 1973, being consistent with his commitment to defend with his life the mandate that the town had given him.

From the Communist Party it was expressed: “116 years after the birth of President Salvador Allende, together with the Party and the JJCC, we claim his legacy, his present and future validity. A tribute in the context of many challenges in which we fight for a better life for Chileans. Allende lives.”

A delegation from the Communist Party, headed by its president, Lautaro Carmona, and the president of the Young Communists, Daniela Serrano, laid a wreath at the Allende monument and paid tribute to the President on his 116th birthday.

Several activities were taking place this day in parts of the country, in publications and social networks, in memory and tribute to Salvador Allende.

Allende was a member of the Socialist Party from an early age, he was a member of the Socialist Militias, a student leader, he was a student of the history of Chile, of Marxist philosophy, a prominent doctor, Minister of Health, deputy, senator, and elected head of the Executive in 1970. , at the head of the Unidad Popular conglomerate.

Tireless social fighter, Latin Americanist, friend of the Cuban Revolution and in solidarity with the independence struggle of Vietnam. Promoter of a socialist project in Chile, he proposed at the beginning of the seventies of the last century to build a new Constitution for Chile, under his Government the nationalization of copper, agrarian reform, the strengthening of health and public education, construction of massive social housing, among other achievements.

He was born on June 26, 1908, in Santiago. He was the son of Salvador Allende Castro, lawyer and notary, and Laura Gossens Uribe. In 1940 he married Hortensia Bussi Soto and they had three daughters: Beatriz, Carmen Paz and Isabel.
