American actor Bill Cobbs has passed away nine days after his 90th birthday. The news was confirmed by his publicist Chuck I. Jones and his family. The actor died on Tuesday night, June 25, at his home in Riverside, California. Despite his advanced age, Cobbs remained active in the film industry, leaving at least three posthumous films that he had already recorded and two other projects that were in development.

Actor Bill Cobbs began his career in 1974, before that he had worked for eight years as a radar technician in the United States Air Force. The performer, born in Cleveland, Ohio, made his film debut with the film “The Taking of Pelham One Two Three”, from which came almost 200 credits in film and television productions.

Cobbs was known for films such as “The Bodyguard” (1992), starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston, and “Night at the Museum” (2006), starring Ben Stiller and in which he played one of the former guards of security of the Museum of Natural History in New York, along with fellow veterans Mickey Rooney (1920-2014) and Dick Van Dyke.
