Myriam Bregman and Romina Del Plá resigned from their seats in the House of Representatives: who will replace them?

The Chamber of Deputies accepted this Monday the resignations of the deputies of the Left Front (FIT) Myriam Bregman and Romina del Plá.

“The presidency informs that the resignations submitted by Deputy Myriam Bregman as of June 10 and Deputy Romina del Plá as of June 26 of this year are in the secretariat,” said the president of the body, Martín Menem, at the beginning of the session called for this Thursday, June 27, in which the Senate’s modifications to the Ley Bases and the Fiscal Package will be debated. “Please accept the resignations,” he requested of the legislators. And after a vote by show of hands, he announced: “The answer is affirmative, they are accepted.”

This resignation responds to a scheme followed by the Left, whereby acting deputies leave their seats halfway through their mandate so that another who has made up the list can enter Parliament. Deputy Nicolás del Caño had done the same thing in 2021. It is also worth adding that the space follows an identical philosophy regarding presidential candidacies, where candidates for president and vice president alternate.

Who will replace Bregman and Del Plá?

Bregman, who has a mandate until 2025, will be replaced by Vanina Biasi, former FIT candidate for the Buenos Aires City Government. Del Plá will be replaced by Mónica Schlotthauer, a former deputy who will once again occupy a seat in the Lower House.
