The Government postponed increases in electricity and gas and limited the adjustment on the fuel tax

He National government decided to suspend increases in electricity and gas rates and limited the update of the fuel tax scheduled for July.

This was confirmed to this newspaper by official sources, who attributed the measure to the search for consolidation of the disinflation process and the recovery of the purchasing power of the population.

Regarding fuels, the Ministry of Economy ordered that the tax rate increase 1%, when a greater increase was scheduled that would have generated a floor increase of 16% in Córdoba and 18% in the rest of the country.

This tax update must be added to the increase in the oil companies’ taxes on their product, which could result in a total increase of between 3 and 5%.

Regarding energy rates, the postponement applies for the moment for the month of July, considering that there will be greater consumption due to seasonality and a winter that looks set to have freezing temperatures for longer periods than usual.

It should be noted that in July, June consumption will be paid, to which an increase of different magnitude was applied according to the category of each consumer.

The price “freeze” will be fully observed when the bills arrive in August with the consumption of July.

At the beginning of June, the Government limited energy subsidies by modifying the limits to access the benefit for each of the categories.

N1 (High income) users pay the full rate, while N3 (medium income) pay a subsidized rate of up to 250 kwh/month and N2 users have up to 350 kwh/month.

In the case of gas, the increases were 9.2% for the N1 segment, 33% for N2 and 10% for N3.
