A few days before the end of the month and with the goal of prevent an acceleration of inflationthe Government decided this Thursday to give reverse with increases in the rates of light and gas scheduled for July, at the same time that it decided to reduce the adjustments on the fuel taxalthough gasoline could increase by 7%.
With respect to public services, the Executive decided take into account seasonalitythat is, the highest consumption due to the winter season.
In principle, the brake on increases will only be for the next month’s rateswith the intention of sustaining the recovery of the purchasing power of the population.

In this context, the Energy Secretariat indicated that “If a consumer spent exactly the same amount in June as in July, his bill will have the same amount to pay”.
In any case, the current ballot contemplates the announced increase at the beginning of the month, when The Government modified the maximum subsidized consumption limits and bonuses on wholesale prices of electricity and natural gas for N2 (low income) and N3 (middle income) users.
This sum was defined according to the Transition period established by Decree No. 465/2024, which aims moving from a generalized subsidy regime to a targeted one. In this way, it will be possible to determine what assistance the State provides to users “according to their ability to pay and that reaches up to a limited consumption limit through the recognition of a lower payment (bonus).”
Taking an electricity bill with a average consumption of 250Kwthe increase in the different categories will be as follows:
- N1 (high income): a ticket of $24,710 will go to $30,355 (+23%), a figure that will remain the same in July if consumption remains the same.
- N2 (low incomes): goes from $6,295 to $12,545,260 (+99%).
- N3 (average income): goes from $6,585 to $16,850 (+156%).
In the case of gas, the tariff increase established for June is 9.2% for segment N1; 33% for N2 and 10% for N3.
As for fuels, the tax was going to be updated by 115% and the impact on pumps of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) would have been 18%However, from July 1, the tax that will affect the prices of gasoline and diesel will rise only 1%, according to information provided by the Energy Secretariat to Energy Report. In this way, the oil companies set an increase limit of 7% due to the drop in sales.
