Princess Anne’s husband gives an update on her health: ‘She is slowly recovering’

Since last Sunday, the British Royal Family has been on alert again for the health of one of its members. Princess Anne, 73, had been admitted to hospital for a fall that left her with minor head injuries, an incident she suffered on Sunday while riding a horse at her Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire. This Tuesday her husband, Sir Timothy Laurenceupdated his health status, assuring that he is “slowly recovering.”

Outside Southmead Hospital in Bristol, Sir Tim said the Princess was “doing well, slowly but surely.” British media captured him with a thermal bag in which he had packed some home-style food, all in order to pamper her at a time when she requires extra care to achieve a speedy recovery.

The Princess’s daughter, Zara Tindall, was also seen at the hospital, where she went concerned about her mother’s well-being. According to local reports, both Zara and Peter Phillips and Sir Timothy were present with Princess Anne when the accident occurred. Although the details of the fall and what caused the blow have not been shared, doctors would have considered that the strong impact could have been from a collision with the horse’s head or legs.

The princess will continue to be under medical observation, as Buckingham Palace announced in a statement: “This is a precautionary measure and she is expected to make a full and speedy recovery.”

In it they added the good wishes of their brother, King Charles III, who at the moment is fulfilling the official agenda for the visit of the Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japanwhom he welcomed with open arms along with his wife, Queen Camilla.

“The King remains closely informed and joins the entire Royal Family in sending his love and best wishes to the Princess for a speedy recovery,” the statement read.

Your health as a priority

For now, the Princess’s health is paramount, so her planned activities for the following days will have to be postponed in order to give her time to fully recover; these include the King’s banquet for the Japanese Emperor and her planned trip to Canada. “On the advice of doctors, Her Royal Highness’s engagements for the coming week will be postponed. Her Royal Highness sends her apologies to anyone who may feel uncomfortable or disappointed as a result,” a spokesman said.
