The Government reversed the planned increase in electricity and gas rates, while it will not apply adjustments to the fuel tax. The measures that intervene on prices, a theory opposite to that defended by the president, respond to the need to iron out inflation.

The drop in the price index for goods and services is overshadowed by the even sharper drop in the purchasing power of Argentines. However, it is the only achievement that Javier Milei can display in these almost seven months of management and he is not willing to give it up. This is why the national government decided to postpone increases in electricity, gas and fuel to avoid additional pressures on the cost of living.

In the case of fuels, the tax was to be increased by 115% and the impact at the pump was to reach 20% in Rosario.

The decision was made only for the electricity and gas rates for July with the intention of taking into account seasonality and that the increases arrive after the seventh month of the year has passed, which is, due to winter, one of the months with the highest consumption.
