FX and Disney prepare Shōgun continuity: the details

After the success it generated, becoming one of the series of the year, Shōgun is preparing to continue its captivating story.

FX and Disney revealed yesterday, according to The Hollywood Reporter, that two more seasons of the hit drama series are in development and writers’ rooms are assembling. The news is that FX will be working with the people in charge of late author James Clavell’s estate to reconstruct seasons two and three. They took the first step recently when they signed a contract with the showrunners of the production.

However, this does not mean that seasons two and three of Shogun have been confirmed, as an official renewal will be based on progress made in the writers’ room and whether all parties involved are happy with the direction the series is taking.

Series co-creators Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo remain at the helm as do executive producer Michaela Clavell of the James Clavell estate, as well as series star and producer Hiroyuki Sanada.
