The cast of “Yo soy Betty, la fea” recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of the successful soap opera, an event that brought together the main actors in an emotional event. During the celebration, each cast member received a symbolic recognition, highlighting the importance and lasting impact of this production in the history of television.

The soap opera, whose first episode aired in June 1999 and ended in 2001, accumulated a total of 335 episodes. It is notable because in addition to captivating millions of followers for more than two decades, it has been reproduced in multiple versions around the world. “I am Betty, the ugly one is the essence of television, it is the soap opera of which the most versions have been made in other countries,” said José Antonio de Brigard, president of the RCN Channel.

In this commemoration, a posthumous tribute was paid to the creator of history, the Bogotá librettist Fernando Gaitán, who died in 2019 due to a heart attack. “Talking about Yo soy Betty, la fea is talking about Fernando Gaitán, the person who created and inspired her,” he added from Brigard. Gaitán is remembered for his significant contribution to Colombian television and for having created characters that left an indelible mark on the audience.
