Victor Alli wanted to talk about the shocking twist in season 3 of the series produced by Shonda Rhimes
season 3 of The Bridgertons It may have revolved mainly around Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan), but much of the series’ fandom is talking about the big twist in the second part that was a big change from the books.
It is about the arrival of Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza), a new love interest for Francesca (Hannah Dodd). Or so she happens in the books after marrying John (Victor Alli), Michaela’s cousin.
The surprise arises not only because of the love triangle that is established, but also because Michaela is a man in Julia Quinn’s books, of whom Francesca falls in love after John’s death.
The showrunner of The Bridgertons, Jess Brownell has previously defended the introduction of LGBTQ+ stories in the Netflix series, something that led to a request for diversity from fans. And now, Victor Alli himself has spoken about this unexpected turn.

The actor has been enthusiastic about the news and has said that the series has always had “big and strong decisions” from its first season:
I was very well received by the cast and I’m sure the same will happen with her. I’m excited for Masali to join the series and show how amazing she is.
On the other hand, during the same interview with Forbes, Victor Alli shows that he has a more than positive view of John’s tragic fate: “I’m going to go step by step. “We never know when our time will come.”

We just have to wait for the premiere of season 4 of The Bridgertons which is expected to premiere sometime in early 2026.
