Well, the party begins in Westeros and we cannot say that the opening episode of the second season of the dragon house has lowered the level compared to the end of the first installment of the series.
Although much of the chapter takes place with both sides dealing with the consequences of the acts of Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell), the Black side, loyal to Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) ask for blood in the midst of preparations for war, which seems imminent.

Although at first there seems to be some reluctance to strike back, Rhaenyra’s pain after returning to Rock Dragon leads her to demand Aemond’s head for murdering her son, Lucerys Velaryon.
That leads to Daemond Targaryen (Matt Smith) to contact Blood and Cheesea Goldcloak who hates the Hightowers, and a rat catcher who works at the Red fortress. His orders: kill Aemond and bring his head to Rhaenyra. “Son for son“, as the title of the episode says.
A brutal murder to open the season
Despite their successful infiltration, Blood and Cheese do not find Aemond, but they do find Helaenathe queen, with her two twins: Jaehaerys and Jaehaera. The attackers threaten the queen to reveal who the child, heir to the Iron Throne, is. Fearing for the lives of both children, she reveals who her target is and, while they perpetrate the infanticide, she flees to her room. Alicent.
However, if you have read Fire and bloodthe novel by George RR Martin on which it is based the dragon houseyou will know that historians of Westeros compile this event very differently.
Rhaenyra does not specifically claim Aemond’s head and Daemon does not mark Lucerys’ killer as a target, only invoking “an eye for an eye. Son for a son.”
The crime also takes place in Alicent’s room, where Blood and Cheese hold the queen mother waiting for Helaena and the children to come in to say goodnight.
Additionally, Helaena tries to convince the assassins to kill her youngest son, Maelor, instead of Jaehaerys, although the end result is the same as in the series.
We will discover the consequences next Monday, when the dragon house return to Max with a new episode showing that there have been excuses for atrocities in Westeros since long before the events of Game of Thrones.
