In a report published this Monday on the situation in the coastal enclave, the Ministry of State for Relief Affairs stated that more than 60 percent of residential buildings and 80 percent of commercial facilities were damaged or destroyed.

Of the total number of fatalities, 491 are health workers, 67 members of civil defense personnel, 141 journalists and media professionals and 252 humanitarian workers, he stressed.

The institution highlighted that only 11 hospitals are partially operational and another 26 were out of service.

Only 30 percent of primary health care facilities are operational in the territory, where 712 thousand cases of acute respiratory infection and 380 thousand of diarrhea were recorded, he explained.

The ministry warned that more than a million children need mental health services and psychological and social support.

He stated that 1.1 thousand citizens face catastrophic levels of food insecurity and another 854 thousand face emergency levels.

On the subject, he indicated that at least 28 minors died from malnutrition and dehydration since October 7.

31 percent of this population sector in the north of the Strip suffers from acute malnutrition and 10 percent in the southern city of Rafah, where more than a million citizens take refuge, he noted.

Regarding education, he highlighted that more than 625 thousand students cannot attend their educational centers, while another 6,417 and 300 workers in the sector died due to the actions of the Israeli Army.

Regarding the shelters, he explained that 41 percent of them lack adequate ventilation and 57 percent were affected by rain and water leaks.

The Ministry revealed that the pumping of 83 percent of the groundwater wells in the Strip is paralyzed, as well as the entire wastewater treatment system.
