Five people were found wounds and are now hospitalized after a sword attack perpetrated by a 36-year-old man who was arrested this Tuesday near a metro station in the Hainault area, in the east of Londonconfirmed the capital’s Ambulance Service.
According to a statement from the Metropolitan Police (Met), the event, which according to the first indications is not of a terroristoccurred shortly after 07:00 local time (06:00 GMT) when police received calls to warn that a car had crashed into a house in the Thurlow Garden area.
The London Ambulance Service later stated in its X account that its medical personnel treated “five people at the scene and transported them all to hospital,” where they are receiving treatment, although their condition is unknown.
“They called us at 6:54 (local time) this morning to attend to a incident near the Hainault metro station and sent multiple resources to the scene,” the message noted.
Ambulance Services indicated that they worked alongside emergency services and that their teams have already left the area.
Of the five people treated, two are police officers.
“At this time, we understand that the suspect attacked other citizens and two police officers,” police added.
The body indicated that it is now waiting to know the report doctor of the injured, whose severity is unknown.
A citizen video broadcast by the British media shows the alleged perpetrator of the attack, a bearded man wearing an ocher hooded sweatshirt, while walking with a large sword (the style of a Japanese katana) in his hand.
The Met also rules out that there is “any threat“for citizens as a result of this incident, while ensuring that he is not looking for more suspects and that what happened “does not seem to be related to terrorism.”
“Please follow the instructions of the police officers in the area. A man has been arrested,” the body says.
The British Minister of the Interior, James Cleverly, assured through the social network
“My thoughts are with those affected, and I thank the emergency services,” Cleverly posted.
