They provide monetary aid to needy households in Colombia

Bogotá, Apr 30 (Prensa Latina) Payments of the first cycle of Citizen Income, the program with which the Government of Colombia provides resources to the most needy households, will begin today, according to information released by the Department of Social Prosperity.

Among the groups to benefit are families with less capacity to generate income or in extreme poverty, who are headed by a single parent and children under six years of age.

Also included in this group are indigenous households identified in the Social Prosperity lists, in accordance with the program’s selection criteria.

The departments with the highest number of beneficiaries in the first cycle are La Guajira, with 36,840 family units; Córdoba, with 36,800; Bolívar, 36 thousand 389; Valle del Cauca, 33 thousand 86; Nariño, 31,293, and Antioquia, 29,097.

According to the information released, the 519,408 prioritized households will receive 500,000 pesos (approximately $125 at the current exchange rate) until May 17, at the points of the postal payment operator Su Red.

“This payment will be made through Matrix, Giros y Servicios SAS, better known as Su Red, which has more than 34 thousand payment points in 1,105 municipalities,” said Gustavo Bolívar, director of Social Prosperity, the Government entity that sets policies for the care of vulnerable groups.
