In this framework, groups that defend human rights and that demand justice against soldiers participating in massacres and murders, will develop condemnation activities and demand justice.

In that sense, the Comunicarnos Foundation, the Roundtable against impunity in El Salvador and the Salvadoran Association for Human Rights will hold a sit-in in front of the Bautista Hospital, in this capital, where two senior ex-military officers presumed guilty of the murder are “taking refuge” as patients. of four Dutch journalists.

General Guillermo García, former Minister of Defense, and Colonel Francisco Morán, former director of the defunct Treasury Police, are sheltered in the medical center, both with provisional arrest warrants for their involvement in the murder of the four Dutch communicators.

A report from the Truth Commission considers that there is full evidence that the death of the journalists Koos Jacobus Andries Koster, Jan Corenlius Kuiper Joop, Hans Lodewijk ter Laag, and Johannes Joop Willemsen, which occurred on March 17, 1982, was a consequence from an ambush previously planned by the military high command.

The press workers were murdered by order of Colonel Mario Adalberto Reyes Mena, former commander of the Fourth Infantry Brigade, and acting hand by order of the high command headed by García and Morán.

The book “La Emboscada”, coordinated by Óscar Antonio Pérez, President-director of the Comunicarnos Foundation and regional coordinator of the World Association of Community Radio Stations in Latin and the Caribbean, offers the most comprehensive approach to the tragic death of the Dutch journalists, murdered for reporting the truth of armed conflict.

While the soldiers remain “sick” in the capital hospital, the authorities do not seem interested in seeing the case tried and the guilty convicted, according to complaints.
