Ukraine ordered this Thursday the evacuation of the inhabitants of several localities and towns in the eastern region of Donetsk in the face of the advance and increase in Russian attacks. The governor, Vadim Filashkin, was in charge of addressing the neighbors and urging them to comply with the request in an attempt to preserve their lives and that of all the minors.

“This is an important decision aimed primarily at saving the lives of our children. “The security situation in the region is constantly deteriorating and the intensity of shelling is increasing.”he said in a message spread on social networks.

The list mostly includes locations near the front line, where the climate is more complex. Among them is Lymanthe position that the Russian Armed Forces had conquered in February 2022 and which had already been evacuated, but which kyiv subsequently managed to recover.

The situation in Donetsk worsened in recent weeks after the enemy side was unsuccessful in its attempts to advance on Kharkiv in early May. The troops then sought to take advantage of the lack of weapons in Ukraine and began their almost daily offensives on this front. The siege of the first days, however, was reversed due to the arrival of Allied reinforcements and the intense fight that Volodimir Zelensky’s soldiers fought to defend their positions.

Thus, from the Kremlin, it was ordered to change the strategy and now focus the offensives on Donetsk.

This Tuesday, Zelensky noted that “the main fighting and the most massive attacks take place in the Donetsk region (and, in fact, Russian attacks are concentrated there,” while the Center for National Defense Strategies noted that the enemy side “is concentrating on penetrating through Ukrainian positions in small sections of the front between Staromikhailivka and Berdichi to create the conditions that allow further progress towards Pokrovsk”.

In that sense, in the last few hours local authorities reported a new attack in the town of Svernie – just a few kilometers from the front line – which left at least one civilian killed and four others injured. Emergency personnel moved to the scene and assisted all the victims, the State Service indicated on its Facebook profile.

“These are the consequences of Russia’s latest attacks on Donetsk. “Do not put your life and health in danger, evacuate on time”added the Governor.

While civilians are urged to take shelter, Ukrainian soldiers have already begun to make use of the permission granted in recent days by Western allies to use their weapons in attacks on Russian territory. The decision responds to Zelensky’s requests and contemplates the use of these artillery pieces in a defense context and only in enemy areas near the borderfrom where all these maneuvers against civilians are launched.

The day before it became known that at the beginning of the month, kyiv had managed to destroy a Russian S-300/400 air defense battery in Belgorod, possibly with American HIMARS systems.
