He Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modihas sworn in this Sunday his position as head of the country’s Government, at the beginning of a historic third terma circumstance that has not occurred in the last 60 years in the country.

He leader of the Indian People’s Party (Bharatiya Janata or BJP) takes office again at a time of special political weakness since, for the first time since coming to power ten years ago, it has needed quickly form a coalition government with parties from its National Democratic Alliance.

These negotiations have resulted in the formation of a new cabinet made up of 30 ministers, five independents and 36 secretaries of State.

However, party sources have been advancing that The BJP will retain key ministries such as Interior, Defence, Foreign Affairs and Economy, although it is unknown if its current occupants will remain. The names of the new cabinet will be announced throughout this Sunday.

The ceremony takes place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, in the presidential palace in New Delhi, in the presence of the country’s president, Droupadi Murmu.
