The latest gender alert by UN Women hailed the work of Palestinian-led entities operating in some of the most dangerous and challenging areas of Gaza and the West Bank.

“Their extensive community outreach makes them in better conditions to reach the most needy women and girls,” added the text, which also warns of a continuous deterioration in the basic survival conditions of women in the occupied territories.

More than 80 percent of those interviewed in Gaza reported dependence on food assistance, while 83.5 percent considered the help they receive insufficient to meet the family’s basic needs, the alert revealed.

After consulting 25 Palestinian-led entities, UN Women insisted that, despite the serious situation, these organizations are at the forefront of the humanitarian response with a network of 1,575 officials in Gaza and the West Bank.

89 percent of formations surveyed suffered damage to their offices, while 35 percent faced complete destruction.

However, the analysis revealed that 60 percent showed a willingness to operate at full capacity with an evident commitment to their communities.

The United Nations agency for the protection of women called on the international community and stakeholders to take decisive action to support these actions.

Additionally, she called for active funding of female-led organizations and greater humanitarian access to allow them to scale up their life-saving responses.

Likewise, he requested the inclusion of these initiatives in all humanitarian coordination structures to ensure a truly effective and inclusive response.

The role of these formations will be vital to protect the most vulnerable and for the reconstruction of Gaza, the text considered.

“Investing in their resilience is not only important, but is the key to an inclusive response that leaves no one behind,” added the executive director of UN Women, Sima Bahous.
