A dog helped its owner be rescued after his vehicle fell down a steep ravine in a rugged area of ​​northeastern Oregon, authorities said.

A man was driving with his four dogs along a remote US Forest Service road on June 2, when fell into a ravine, the Baker County Police Department said in a press release posted on Facebook. His family located his vehicle the next day and called the emergency number 911 since they could not go down the steep terrain. Upon his arrival, the authorities found the man about 90 meters from the car after hearing him scream for help. She had managed to crawl out of the vehicle after the accident, the statement said.

He was saved thanks to his dog

U.S. Forest Service workers used chainsaws to cut a path through the vegetation for search and rescue teams, who established a complex rope system that stretched from one side of the ravine to the other.

The man is hoisted by rescuers towards the helicopter (Baker County Police Department).

Once they were able to reach the man, the authorities placed him on a rescue stretcher and hooked it to the ropes, which were then used as a pulley system to carry him to the other side of the ravine, through which he was running. a stream, according to images shared by the police department.

The man was taken by helicopter to a regional hospital, authorities said. His three other dogs were found alive at the scene of the accident.
