At least Nine people were injured this Saturday in a brutal shooting at a Detroit water park, United States, in which the attacker fired at least 28 shots at tourists who were visiting the place. Five hours after the attack, the shooter took his own life.
The brutal event occurred on Saturday afternoon in a park located in the town of Rochester Hills, a suburb of Detroit, where the attacker arrived by car and practically without saying a word began shooting.
A 8-year-old boy was in critical condition after being shot in the head, while his 4-year-old brother was also injured, although it remained stable. Her mother was also in critical condition after being wounded in the abdomen and leg, Oakland County Police Chief Michael Bouchard told the press.
The others six victims, all 30 years old or olderwere in stable condition, the sheriff added.
Bouchard reported that the attacker “stopped his car, got out of the vehicle, approached the water area and opened fire. He reloaded, opened fire again, reloaded and left.” The suspect was described as a 42 year old manwhile the motives for the shooting were unclear.
As soon as the attack occurred and the authorities were warned, a statement was issued through social networks asking the population of Rochester Hills to avoid leaving their homes, since they could not find the location of the attacker.
The city’s mayor, Bryan Barnett, reported hours later of the fact that The attacker had died and had what appeared to be “a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”as he wrote on his Facebook account.
“I have no comment on this individual or his potential motives. I am confident that more will be discovered in the coming days and I ask for patience from our community while our first responders complete this investigation,” added the mayor, who confirmed that he received calls from the House Blanca and on behalf of the Governor.
