These measures will help the country attract multinational corporations, increase its competitiveness and strengthen regional integration. This initiative seeks to capitalize on global changes in supply chain networks, as well as specialized services and industrial production, and will take advantage of Jamaica’s strategic location in the Asia-America shipping corridors to improve connectivity and access to markets. global.

A central element of the project is the attraction of foreign direct investment in value-added activities (nearshoring). The plan includes the development of the Caymanas Special Economic Zone and supporting infrastructure to help attract foreign investment, trade and job creation.

The proposed work has been considered a top priority by the Jamaican authorities and is in line with the development bank’s assistance program for the country and the region. The proposal also aligns with the government and CAF strategy for regional cooperation and integration, as well as for logistics and connectivity infrastructure.
