“Together with our worthy journalists and communicators, descendants of Manuel Díaz and Sotelo and of the revolutionary and evolutionary journalism and communication of all times and circumstances of victorious struggles, we salute the release of the brave Australian communicator Julian Assange,” the Executive highlighted in a statement. .

He added that Assange’s publications and revelations “allowed us to learn more about the lies that, sold as angelic rescues of democracy, exposed in all their unfortunate and brutal intensity, the imperialist barbarity in so many parts of the world.”

The text extended the embrace of solidarity to Assange’s wife and children and to all the activists of the true causes who accompanied him during all the years of demanding justice and respect for freedom of expression.

“The human family continues to learn more and more about the savage, cowardly, atrocious hypocrisy that fascist neocolonialism seeks to sell to continue deceiving the world,” he concluded.

Assange was released this Monday and traveled to his native country, Australia, following an agreement with the United States government to plead guilty to a felony under the Espionage Act, after spending the last five years of his life in a British prison.

The journalist would thus put an end to a long legal process that began when he was held responsible for the largest leak in the history of the United States of secret documents in 2010-2011, on the Pentagon’s military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan.

According to WikiLeaks, the departure of its creator is the result of a global campaign that involved grassroots organizers, press freedom advocates, legislators and leaders from across the political spectrum, all the way to the United Nations.
