In his X account, the head of the Spanish Executive, Pedro Sánchez, deplored the “military movements in Bolivia” and wrote a message to the authorities of the South American country.

“We send the Government of Bolivia and its people our support and solidarity and we call on them to respect democracy and the rule of law,” said Sánchez.

Also the president of the conservative Popular Party (PP), Alberto Núñez Feijóo, defended democracy and constitutional order in Bolivia.

«You cannot break the constitutional order in Bolivia. “Democracy must be respected,” Núñez Feijóo stressed on social networks.

In a statement, the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation spoke out in harsh terms against the attempt to subvert order in the highland nation.

“The Government of Spain condemns the military movements in Bolivia and any attempt to break the constitutional order and democracy of that brother country,” the Foreign Ministry stated.

He added that Spain conveys all its support and solidarity to the Government of Bolivia and the Bolivian people and calls for respect for democracy and the rule of law.

For its part, the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE) joined the comments on social networks, highlighting its repudiation of “the irregular military actions that are taking place in Bolivia by some army units.”

“We want to send all our support and solidarity to the Government of Bolivia democratically elected by the people,” he said.

The former leader of the Podemos party and former vice president of the Executive Pablo Iglesias expressed himself in similar terms.

According to reports here, a tank broke down the doors of the Bolivian Executive headquarters and entered at 3:51 p.m. local time, after the commander-in-chief of the Bolivian Army, Juan José Zuñiga, threatened to take over the government headquarters and change the cabinet.
