The 59th Valencia Book Fair starts today, Thursday until May 5. The second largest literary fair in Spain has 120 booths and 1,400 activities

This Thursday the 59th of the Valencia Book Fair with a new record number of exhibitors. A total of 80 entities and 120 booths will be present this year until Next May 5th presenting the latest editorial news in the Gardens of Real de Viveros in Valencia.

Throughout the 11 days of the Valencia Book Fair 2024, the author signing meetings with their most loyal readers.In total almost 1,400 acts among those who have confirmed their presence successful writers such as Fernando Aramburu, Máximo Huerta, Carmen Amoraga, César Pérez Gellida, Elvira Cambrils or Paco Roca, among others.

Schedules of the 59th Valencia Book Fair 2024

The 59th Valencia Book Fair 2024 takes place from today, Thursday April 25, until next May 5 in the Jardín del Real in Viveros with the following schedules:

  • From Monday to Friday: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Weekends and holidays: from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The entrance to the Valencia Book Fair is free and all activities promoted by the organization are free access until capacity is reached.

Paco Roca, Teresa Pascual and Elisa Ferre, awards at the 59th Valencia Book Fair

The 59th Valencia Book Fair will distinguish 2025 in this edition with its awards to Paco Roca, Teresa Pascual and Elisa Ferrer. These have been awarded since 2019 with the purpose of recognizing the career and literary contributionone in Spanish and another in Valencian, as well as the emerging talent.

The lifetime achievement award in Spanish to Paco Roca is especially significant, since it is the first time that the Book Fair awards a graphic novel and comic author.

His last work The abyss of oblivion (Astiberri, 2023), together with the journalist from The world is, Rodrigo Terrasa, is focused on the fight for the memory of the people shot by Franco in the Paterna cemetery (Valencia). In its first month of launch last December, the products were sold for more than a month. 40,000 copies and now the publication is in its third edition.

For her part, the poet Teresa Pascual (Grau de Gandia, 1952) will receive the award for trajectory in Valencian. Pascual became known in 1987 with the collection of poems Flexo, work that won the Senyoriu d’Ausiàs March award from the Beniarjó City Council. But it was the following year that he received public recognition, when he won the Vicent Andrés Estellés award, within the October Premis, with the book titled Les Hores. Since then she has published numerous collections of poems, such as The temps in order (2002), Serra d’Or Criticism Prize for poetry, or, recently, All passa baix (2022), Lletra d’Or award.

Lastly, the emerging prize it will be for Elisa Ferrer (l’Alcúdia de Crespins, 1983). Ferrer has recently published the novel The dutch. In 2019 she won the Tusquets Editores de Novela award with Wasp season.
