A book release was held in the Glorieta in Plaza 9 de Julio, organized by the Active Culture Agency and the Undersecretariat of Paseo de Compras, dependent on the Secretariat of Public Spaces and Citizen Protection.

The activity had the purpose of releasing more than 1,500 copies of different genres so that they find new homes and readers. More than 800 people participated, it was completely free and intended for the general public, neighborhood centers, popular libraries, soup kitchens and schools.

It started at 5 p.m. with long lines and great participation from neighbors, ending after 8 p.m. when the Salteños who attended ran out of stock. The mayor, Emiliano Durand, approached the event and greeted and spoke with the attendees.

On this occasion, neighbors were able to pick up between 3 and 4 books per person throughout the day. At the end, many of them took the material they needed and desired without limit.

A great moment was had in the gazebo, in addition to the books, music was also present, since the “25 de Mayo” municipal band accompanied the event.

Lourdes Roldán, Undersecretary of Shopping Tours of the Municipality stated: “It was a really nice day, people were able to take the books that interested them so we are very happy and very grateful for this activity, this call and the support of all the salteños”.

Libraries

The Municipality of Salta will work jointly with the Federation of Popular Libraries, based on an agreement that was signed. The objective is that these spaces that provide support to the city’s residents have the support of the community for the execution of various infrastructure improvements. In addition, cultural activities will be promoted in conjunction with the Cultura Activa Agency.

In this regard, the Undersecretary of Socio-Urban Integration, Mariano Viramonte, indicated that “the priority of the agreement is to accompany the Federation, in the building part, because we believe that a good environment, and a place suitable for activities to be carried out, is essential. .
