The Lola Rivera Foundation presents the book ‘Alan Lomax in the province of León’ in Ponferrada

The Lola Pérez Rivera Foundation presents the book this Friday in Ponferrada Alan Lomax in the province of León, a study and transcription of recordings of popular songs that American ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax collected in the province in the mid-20th century.

The book collects 59 tunes, transcribed into sheet music, which he recorded in the regions of Laciana and Maragtería in 1952. This is a work developed by a research team from the Higher Conservatory of Music of Castilla y León, Coscyl, coordinated by Julia Andrés Oliveira, which continues a study started by Lola Pérez Rivera, one of the most renowned ethnomusicologists in Castilla y León and expert in the traditional music of the Community, whose legacy is being spread through this foundation that bears her name.

The presentation, which will take place at 7 p.m. in the assembly hall of the UNED Associated Centerlocated at number 15 on Avenida de Astorga in Ponferrada, will feature the participation of the Institute of Bercian Studies and the Abelladeira Cultural Association.
