Tesla has launched a limited edition mezcal priced at $450. This mezcal celebrates the artisanal tradition of Oaxaca, using a tahona in the grinding process. Distillation is carried out in an alembiccombining the flavors of the native Espadín and Bicuishe agaves.

Agaves are succulent plants grown to produce mezcal. Their hearts, known as piñas, are harvested, cooked and fermented to extract their juices. The tahona is a circular stone that grinds these hearts. The alembic is a copper still used to purify and concentrate mezcal.

“The result is a mezcal that is as delicate as it is spicy, with a deep citrus and green apple nose that gives way to soft herbal notes with a delicate smokiness that lingers on the tongue. It ends with notes of tuberose, jasmine and chamomile that soften until achieving a balanced and velvety mouthfeel,” they explain on the Tesla Mezcal page.

Tesla mezcal offers a complex sensory experience. Its aroma presents citrus and green apple notes. When drinking it, you can perceive herbaceous flavors and a smokiness that lingers on the tongue. At the end, softening notes of tuberose, jasmine and chamomile are revealed.

This limited edition uses a distillation process that respects traditional production methods.

The bottle, made of hand-blown glass, displays a black finish inspired by the ancient Barro Negro pottery tradition of Oaxaca. This design was created by Javier Verdura, Director of Product Design at Tesla, in homage to his Mexican roots and his early years of life in Mexico City.
