Saint Petersburg (Russia), June 8 (.).- 80% of Russian exports are directed to the countries of the Asia-Pacific region after the beginning of the confrontation with the West that forced the country to redirect the flows of the crude oil, said this Saturday the executive director of the oil company Rosneft (MCX:), Igor Sechin.

“Developing countries will be the main drivers of oil consumption in the coming decades. By 2030, demand growth in this group of countries should together represent 95% of the global increase in consumption,” Sechin said during a panel within the framework of the Saint Petersburg Economic Forum.

He added that Asian countries are now “Russia’s main trading partners”, so the redirection of supplies from the west to the east has been successfully completed.

Sechin also highlighted the development of the Northern Sea Route project, a new transport artery that will connect northern Russia and its abundant resources with the markets of developing countries.

“Thanks to this project, energy consumers in Asia will have access to the richest resources of the Arctic shelf and Siberia,” Sechin stressed.

In this sense, he recalled that today 10% of the world’s oil and 25% of natural gas are extracted in the Arctic.

At the same time, he emphasized that for a smooth supply of Russian oil exports, trade in national currencies and the development of alternative payment systems must be further expanded.

“Significant progress has already been made in this direction, since in the last two years, the use of the ruble in payments for exports has tripled and has exceeded 40%,” said the manager.
