The pace of expansion of the automobile industry is frenetic. In the last decade cars have evolved more than in an entire century. The arrival of technology associated with driving has transformed the way we conceive mobility. The electric car has been the arrowhead of this change and China has been the archer who has shot it. The East dominates the international scene with its cars. The speed of development leaves traditional manufacturers in evidence. XPeng has just unveiled its first AI-powered car, the XPeng MO3. A 100% electric sedan that could arrive in Europe starting next year.

The young Chinese company has managed to carve out a niche for itself in the frenetic Asian electricity market. His young age has not been an impediment to achieving success with products like the XPeng G9 or the P7. A few months ago we learned about XPeng’s specific plans to have a greater presence in Europe. The brand will be officially launched in Spain later this year with a short, but balanced catalogue. The predominant bet will be on SUVs, but the offer will gradually expand in order to try to attract a greater number of potential drivers. The last unit to arrive seems like the most commercial of all.

XPeng becomes one of the first manufacturers to firmly invest in AI.

Artificial Intelligence reaches the automotive sector

It has been a year since we learned about this step. In August of last year, a great agreement between XPeng and Didi emerged, a few days after the former signed an important collaboration with Volkswagen. Didi is a well-known Chinese shared mobility services company. XPeng, after paying 693 million euros, took over the electric vehicle branch of its already partner. Although initially the objective was to launch a new brand focused on cheap electrical products, now the plans are different. MONA will not be a brand within XPengbut a branch of vehicles that respond to the acronym “Made Of New AI”, Manufactured with New Artificial Intelligence.

The agreement contemplates that Didi and XPeng have shared the development and application of technology, although the latter will be in charge of manufacturing it in one of their several plants spread throughout China. In China it is speculated that Its sale price will be around 200,000 yuan, approximately 27,600 euros. It seems like a tough rival for the Tesla Model 3, although no specific details have yet been specified about its size, wheelbase, performance or autonomy. BYD will be in charge of providing the batteries with a range of approximately 500 kilometers, according to the first unofficial comments.

The most notable fact is that MO3 will be the first in a series of launches with strong bases of Artificial Intelligence. AI is revolutionizing the way brands create their cars. Everyone warns that it is the next big step in the industry and here is the example. XPeng’s MONA series will have the most advanced technology. From its special electric platform, X-EEA3.0, to the XNGP system, an autonomous driving pilot guided by the vehicle’s navigation equipment. XPeng is expected to reveal all the information over the next few days, including production and arrival dates in Europe.
