First there were books, then music and audiovisual production and, now, home delivery of food. Starting this Wednesday, Amazon Prime customers will be able to enjoy free shipping if they place an order through Just Eat – from 15 euros – after linking your accounts. Specifically, beneficiaries will have early access to the free delivery option Plus, a new customer loyalty program that Just Eat will launch soon and that, according to the platform deliverywill offer customers a wide variety of exclusive offers and discounts at associated restaurants and stores.

Amazon highlights that this collaboration, which adds home delivery of online restaurant orders to the entertainment offering, will benefit both Amazon Prime customers and Just Eat collaborating establishments. Ana Costi, head of Prime for Europe, has highlighted that the choice of the Dutch company as a partner is due to its selection of restaurants, its extensive coverage – practically the entire Spanish territory – and its service.

Costi added that “third-party collaborations are an important part of the exceptional value that Prime offers its customers every day, in areas that Amazon does not offer.” And he has emphasized: “In recent years we have been expanding this part of the range of benefits and exclusive offers for Prime customers to areas such as home delivery of online restaurant orders. With this collaboration with Just Eat we innovate in Spain with the first third-party offer, another way to help our customers save money every day and we are delighted to do it.”

For his part, the general director of Just Eat in Spain, Íñigo Barea, highlighted that the signing of this agreement represents the entry of both brands into a “new era” in which they will provide their customers with “more convenience and value.” The Just Eat Takeaway.com Group, according to the company, has planned and anticipated the operation by strengthening its teams of delivery drivers, which already have more than 2,500 riders hired.

The agreement is nothing new for both companies. In July 2022, the e-commerce giant announced an agreement with Grubhub—the American subsidiary of Just Eat—which, according to Barea, achieved very positive results. In fact, as a result of that agreement, Amazon took over 2% of the company and, according to Bloomberg, is on track to take over 18% after signing a new five-year agreement through which they included the platform. delivery on its website and app. “We have been working on the guts of the project for a long time, which was born two years ago in the United States. We are fully confident that it will be a success and that both our restaurants and users will appreciate it. We feel very confident in a satisfactory implementation,” added Barea.

At the same time as customers in Spain, Prime customers in Germany and Austria will also benefit from free delivery of their orders at Lieferando – a subsidiary of Just Eat in both countries.
