It’s been almost seven years since the last time Adriana Lucia had released his own album, it was in 2017 with Porrock.

Then he took out a tribute to Lucho Bermúdez, which sounded before the pandemic, and since then the woman from Córdoba had been away from the music industry.

The wait is over and at the beginning of this month it presented I tell you in cumbia, a song inspired by the sabanero sound, characteristic of the Caribbean region and performed with accordion.

“It’s more than a song, it’s my return to music, with new proposals. It is a cumbia in the style of Andrés Landero and Lisandro Mesaa music that has its epicenter in Medellín,” Adriana Lucía said in a conversation with EL COLOMBIANO.

He related that it is not a traditional cumbia, although at its base it is, that it has many modern things, with a very sabanero sound, with accordion, returning to all those roots, in the best style of The Corraleros of Majagual. “This is the type of cumbia that Mexico fell in love with and that they know outside the country, this is the most popular outside of Colombia.”

The absence

Regarding the distance she had taken from music, she says that several things were mixed, first the pandemic and then her twin pregnancy.

“I couldn’t wait to release new music, the last thing I had done was a tribute to Lucho Bermúdez, which was not my own music, and now I return with this after my pregnancy. When my daughters turned one and a half years old I said that I already felt ready, because before when I went to the studio I couldn’t concentrate thinking about diapers and bottles, now I have more space and I feel ready. I became desperate to make music, so much so that I already have the album ready, which we are mixing and mastering. “I’m super ready to release great music.”

About ‘I tell you in cumbia’, He notes that they are sounds that are not only in his DNA, but in that of all Colombians.
