Tipí Royes injured his shoulder in a fall and now needs help for surgery

Although he is always seen smiling and in a very good mood, for several weeks the national singer has been suffering from very strong pain. Tipi Royes, one of the voices of the group Marfil. The artist had an accident at the end of April and injured the rotator cuff of his right shoulder, requiring surgery to repair the damage.

Royes, 70, suffered a fall during a family activity at an event center in Alajuela. That day, as he remembered, it rained a lot and the floor was wet, but there was no signage about it, so he walked calmly and fell.

Since then, the artist has undergone examinations, ultrasounds and x-rays at a private medical center. So far, he knows that he must undergo surgery that will cost him ¢7 million. To raise these funds, several friends of his from the media, such as Alejandro Rueda and Toledo, are carrying out a campaign called “7,000 to ¢1,000”, asking the public to donate ¢1,000 to reach the goal.

The singer explained that he has social security and also a pension as a musician, but due to the severe pain and the need to do the surgery as soon as possible for his well-being, he made the decision to perform it privately. In addition, he stated that he respects the times and order of the other policyholders and that he knows that in the public system it could take a long time to be operated on.

According to a medical opinion that the interpreter provided to this medium, the fall caused a complete rupture of the supraspinatus muscle, bursitis in the bicipital groove and a grade III impingement.

About the support he has received from his colleagues and close people, Royes He stated that he feels very grateful. “I am reaping what I have sown, because whenever I can I am there to help anyone. I always say yes. I have earned the love and respect of my colleagues. We artists from Costa Rica are very supportive,” he said.

Regarding pain, he said that he is taking pills and that he uses a sling every day, although sometimes he takes it off because his hand falls asleep. Sleeping has been complicated, although he already knows what position he should be in to fall asleep. As for work, he continues to sing and do events, as he takes care of his shoulder in the meantime. “I use the microphone in my left hand and I take great care of my movements,” he stated.

However, there is another extra job that Tipi does to support her expenses: preparing and selling patí, something she cannot do now because she cannot fully use her hand.
