As a good experience for their training, the Veterinary Medicine students of the University of O’Higgins evaluated the visit they made to the Expomascotas and Animals Fair 2024. “Attending Expomascotas is a super enriching opportunity that the University gives us, because we have the opportunity to get to know different brands and companies that work in the pet field, learn about the work they do and their different products. Also learn about the advances in food and environmental enrichment, not only for pets, but also for exotic animals,” said student Juliana Souza.

His words were joined by those of his colleague Pablo Valenzuela, who highlighted the interesting nature of the display of wildlife, exotic and farm animals, as well as the interactive laboratory areas and the mini aquarium. “On a professional level it allows us to know the industry, the brands with which, in the near future, we will be able to work. In addition, we were able to see pet guardians and learn about their concerns, tastes and preferences, and that is important because in the future we will also serve the public,” he noted.

For the ECA3 deputy director, María José Ubilla, it is important that “for the second consecutive year, we are here at the Mascota y Animales Expo. It is the opportunity for fifth-year Veterinary Medicine students to connect with the industry, see innovations for the health, nutrition and well-being of companion animals, and make contacts for their future professional performance. In addition, together with Dr. Pedro Urrutia, head of the Veterinary Medicine program, we were invited to give two talks: one on the prevention of behavioral disorders in pets, and another on tumors in geriatric (older) pets.”

Pedro Urrutia, as head of Veterinary Medicine at the UOH, added that Expomascotas y Animales has established itself “as one of the most important meetings in the industry that revolves around animal welfare and veterinary medicine. So, many of the exhibitors who meet at this fair present cutting-edge products, food and other accessories, and students can learn about new market trends and what the public receiving veterinary care is demanding in terms of food. , toys, clothing and other supplements.”
