PUNTA ARENAS. Between June 10 and 14, 2024, the “ADMIRALANTAZGO BRAVO” exercise was carried out, a set of training sessions that aimed to increase the operational readiness of the units of the Third Naval Zone. The actions took place in various maritime areas of this jurisdiction.

During the program of activities, security and operations training was planned for the participating units, including OPV 83 “Marinero Fuentealba”; the recently arrived ATF-60 “Lientur” together with the LSM 90 – “Elicura”; the LAM “Casma”; units of the Southern Aeronaval Group deployed through the N-56 Naval helicopter; the support of the LSG “Punta Arenas” and the participation of a battalion specialized in operations from the Marine Infantry Detachment No. 4 “Cochrane”.

The sessions were fundamentally focused on interoperability and allowed for exercises such as towing maneuvers, shooting training with various calibers (FAN shooting), maritime search and rescue, as well as air operations. During the training week, logistical and personnel support was also provided to participating units. In addition, retraining and instruction courses were carried out in survival at sea, demolition instruction and practice, polygon management, fire fighting and breakdown control.

The “ADMIRALANTAZGO BRAVO” exercise was attended by Vice Admiral Claudio Maldonado Naveas, Commander of the Naval Operations Command of the Navy (COMOPER), and the Commander in Chief of the Third Naval Zone, Rear Admiral Jorge Castillo Fuentes, who noted: “This exercise is an example of the preparation of our units to face the challenges presented by this region and in particular this southern theater of operations. We reinforce not only security and efficiency in our operations, but also this is a demonstration of sovereignty and effective position in the southern region, ensuring that our forces are always ready to defend Chile’s interests in this crucial area of ​​the country.”

In a scenario as challenging for defense as the southern territory, the constant training and training of our units is essential to maintain a high level of operational readiness and thus improve the technical capabilities of the crews, uniting the different components of the Third Naval Zone. .
