The first details of the new spin off of ‘The Office’ in which Greg Daniels, the person responsible for the American version of the series, works. Variety magazine has shared a first synopsis of the project that confirms that it won’t be a reboot and it will not have the characters under the command of Michael Scott.
“In search of a new project, the authors of the documentary that immortalized the Dunder Mifflin branch in Scranton discover a newspaper on the brink of closure in the American Midwest that he tries to revive with volunteer reporters.”
“This new series set in the Dunder Mifflin universe will present a new cast of characters in a fresh and comedy-friendly environment: a daily newspaper.” Among the protagonists will be Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore and production will begin next July.
This was the spin off of ‘The Office’ about Dwight Schrute
At the beginning of the news we said “new spin off” because it is not the first project of this style that has been proposed. At the time it will also be considered the possibility of doing a series about Dwight Schrute, his cousin Moses and their beet factory. The series was going to be called ‘The Farm’ and what’s more, episode 17 of season 9 was the pilotwhich was integrated as part of ‘The Office’ when NBC canceled the project.
In him we knew rest of the Schrute family: Cousin Zek, brothers Jeb and Fannie… even Esther returned, Dwight Esther’s platonic love whom we knew from a previous chapter. It is said that NBC Universal changed its management team in those years and that the newly arrived executives considered that ‘The Office’ was in declineso they canceled the spin off and just two years later they did the same with the series.
