Oasis have announced the 30th anniversary edition of their first album, ‘Definitely Maybe’, which will include unreleased recordings and new takes. (via NME)

The special edition of the English band’s debut, which was originally released in 1994, will be released on August 30 through Big Brother Recordings. It will be available in a limited edition of 4 LPs, 2 deluxe CDs, exclusive colored vinyl and other formats..

‘Definitely Maybe (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) contains songs from the original sessions discarded from the Monnow Valley Studiosalong with outtakes recorded in the studios Cornish Sawmillsmixed for the first time by Noel Gallagher and Callum Marinho.

The album also includes a previously unreleased version of “sad song”. The track was originally released as a bonus track, but this alternate version includes vocal tracks by Liam Gallagher.

Additionally, the reissue features new illustrations by the original art designer. Brian Cannon for Microdot and the original photographer Michael Spencer Jonesas well as new notes from Alan McGee, head of Creation Records, and journalist Hamish MacBain.

The exclusive colored vinyl editions are a blue and white marble 2LP inspired by the lyrics of “Up In The Sky” and a pink and white marble 2LP inspired by the lyrics of “Digsy’s Dinner“. Limited edition blue cassette will also be available and, of course, the album will also be available on digital platforms.

All formats include the remastered edition of ‘Definitely Maybe’ that was released in 2014.

The album description says the following: “After signing a global record deal, Liam Gallagher, Noel Gallagher, Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, Paul McGuigan and Tony McCarroll headed to Monnow Valley Studios in the Monmouthshire region of Wales to record the kinetic energy of their live concerts. ”.

At the time, the initial recordings seemed too technical and polished, and failed to capture the essence of the band. The sessions were eventually scrapped and the band moved to the remote confines of Sawmills Studios in Cornwall to re-record the album. Finally, with the addition of Owen Morris to complete the definitive mixes, ‘Definitely Maybe’ was created“.

“The Monnow Valley recordings and Sawmill outtakes, now unearthed for the first time, offer a compelling new understanding of the process that led to the final product.”

“‘Definitely Maybe’ always sounded like an album that had arrived fully formed – however, the newly released versions provide fans with a fascinating new insight into the album; demonstrating the self-confidence that fueled Oasis’ early years and the determination it took to create his debut.”

“Archived until now, revisiting the archive 30 years later represents the importance of the recording process in telling the story of the uneasy creation of one of the most vital albums of all time.”
