Jorge Lanata (63) was admitted this Friday to the Italian Hospital, after suffering a heart attack when he had to undergo routine studies at that medical center.

The journalist had already been admitted to the Favaloro Foundation at the beginning of April, after suffering “respiratory difficulty.”

Now, Lanata planned to have a lung CT scan at the Italian Hospital. It was there that he suffered a heart attack, for which he was hospitalized.

Lanata had also been admitted to Favaloro in November of last year, where he remained for two days due to pneumonia. Previously, he had endured a long list of hospitalizations.

On August 23, the driver was hospitalized for a urinary tract infection. Three weeks later he was discharged, but had to be hospitalized in less than 24 hours due to fever. He was in intensive care and was discharged on September 16.

In September 2022, Lanata treated a “femoral nerve block” that caused pain in her hip. In April he had COVID-19 and during 2021 he also underwent surgery for a cardiac arrhythmia and an arterial pathology.

In recent years, he was hospitalized several times. In August 2020, for example, he underwent surgery, also at the Favaloro Foundation, for a boil.

In 2019, meanwhile, he was hospitalized for 11 days due to gastroenteritis. And, weeks later, he suffered from diabetic neuropathy.

The journalist’s most important surgical intervention occurred in 2015, when he received a kidney transplant that became one of the most important news of the moment, not only because of the journalist’s fame, but because the intervention was unprecedented in Argentina: the healthy mother of a sick young man agreed to donate one of his kidneys to Lanata.
