In recent days, multiple complaints from users have been observed on social networks indicating alleged increases in water and toilet bills. The affected users have expressed that, although water consumption has been reduced, the bill arrived with a higher value than usual. This anomaly was explained by the mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galán, and by the manager of the Bogotá Aqueduct and Sewer Company, Natasha Avendaño.
Everything seems to indicate that this billing error affected around 700,000 users in specific areas of the capital. According to Avendaño, the reported cases are those users who belong to the exclusive service areas of the city where the water bill is still issued together with the toilet bill.
Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán explained for his part that: “About 700 thousand users in Bogotá receive the bill for the aqueduct with the cleaning and there was a time when the cleaning was only charged for one month and the other bill included two months of cleaning. The increase is not a product of the water, it is a product of the fact that in the previous billing cycle only 30 days of cleaning were charged and in the following 60 days.”
Likewise, Galán commented that by charging only one month of cleaning in one billing cycle and two in the next, confusion was generated among users because they thought that, upon seeing the accumulated bills, this had to do with an increase in consumption. of the water. Meanwhile, the Aqueduct manager asked users to carefully review the invoices and if they have any concerns, proceed to file a claim, either with the Aqueduct or Cleaning company.
In addition, Avendaño stressed that joint billing is an obligation when the cleaning provider requests it. Likewise, they detail in the invoice the concepts and the period that users are charged. For now, the service channels for this population are open and after reviewing the invoices, if any inconsistency persists, it is requested to contact the corresponding entities.
