Five months after the declaration of the El Niño phenomenon in the country by Ideam, the flow of the streams that supply the rural aqueducts of the municipalities of San Roque, El Carmen de Viboral, Guatapé and Marinilla, Oriente de Antioch
presented difficulties due to a decrease of the water supply, as reported by Cornare.
The entity, environmental authority in said rural areas, described as worrying the consequences that this has brought in the first quarter of this year, such as the decrease in water resources, loss of vegetation cover or the increase in temperature.
Urrao suspends water service indefinitely
Also, in the municipality of Urrao suspended the provision of water service indefinitely since Monday afternoon for necessary repairs in the pipe that supplies the main tank that carries the liquid to the entire urban area.
“This maintenance what we will have to do involves freeing the pipe and from there being able to identify the magnitude of the damage where, among others, we can identify if it is necessary to replace the complete pipe or from a union to be able to solve this problem as such.“explained Carlos Andrés Montoya, general manager of the Public Companies of Urrao.
Water cuts in Barbosa
Also, in the municipality of Barbosa, several water cuts were scheduled until April 21 for 7,913 families, where due to high consumption by users of up to 130%as well as the low flows in the sources that supply the purification plant of this municipality, the interruption of the aqueduct service had to be increased for 16 hours, in neighborhoods such as 30 de Mayo, Aguas Calientes, Barrios de Jesús, Buenos Aires , Centro, El Portón, El Progreso, Las Orquídeas, Leticia, Pepe Sierra 1, Pepe Sierra 2, Robles, Santa Mónica and Santiago de Los Caballeros.
